Getting started with Cerewro
Cerewro is a free Windows 10/11 (x64) app that brings several AIs together in one window. This guide gets you chatting in a few minutes.
1. Sign up and download
- Go to registro.php and create your account (email only).
- Verify your email. Your license key arrives by email and is also shown on the download page and in your dashboard.
- Download and run
Cerewro-Setup-1.5.0.exe. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info and then Run anyway. The installer includes everything needed (.NET 8); no manual setup.
2. Paste your license
The first time you open Cerewro it asks for your license key. Copy it from the email, the download page or your dashboard and paste it. Your PC is linked automatically. You can also manage it in Settings → Cerewro license: the License token field and the Activate license button. The status area shows Validity, Version and Expiry.
3. Choose an AI
Two options:
- Local AI (no key): uses an AI running on your own PC through Ollama (https://ollama.com). Install Ollama, pull a model (e.g. ollama pull llama3.2:3b-instruct), then in Settings → Chat Providers pick the IA local (local AI) provider: the base URL is prefilled as http://127.0.0.1:11434/v1 and the API key can be left empty. No key needed and your data stays on your machine.
- Cloud AI (with key): go to Settings → Chat Providers, pick a provider (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok…), paste your access key (API key) and select the model. Each provider bills its own usage separately. Keys are stored encrypted on your PC.
4. Your first chat
- Open the Chat tab.
- Pick provider and model in the model selector (dropdown).
- (Optional) Set a working folder: tick Use required workspace, click Choose, select a folder and click Save workspace.
- Type your request in the text area at the bottom and send it with Ctrl+Enter.
Try: "Summarize the documents in this folder in 5 bullet points".
5. Troubleshooting
I can't see the chat input box - Check the license is active (Settings → Cerewro license → Validity). - Check you've chosen an AI (local, or a provider with its key) in the model selector. - Make sure you are on the Chat tab: if the license is not valid, Cerewro starts on Notifications (it also does when there are unread notices), and that tab has no input box. With an invalid license the app also closes itself after 5 minutes. - Maximize the window: the input box is at the bottom of the Chat tab.
The chat doesn't reply - Make sure the provider key is correct and that your account with that provider has credit. - Open the Logs tab (main tab bar); its "Logs and audit" panel shows the provider's exact message (wrong key, no credit, model unavailable…).
